The Thursday Club provides breaks for carers from 4.00 pm - 9.00 pm on a Thursday evening. The Club meets at Phoenix Day Services, Amethyst Lane (off Liebenrood Road), Reading and is for people with physical disabilities who have higher level care needs (e.g. toileting, feeding etc.).

Generally members are brought to the Phoenix Centre by their day centre transport, and their carers or the Readibus collect them at 9.00 pm. Membership is currently available to anyone of pre-retirement age. The group decide their own programme of events, including arts and crafts, cooking, games evenings, visits to pubs and restaurants, theatres, or anything else that is of interest to them.

Carer support workers are available to help facilitate members in their chosen activities. There is no charge for this group, except when outings are arranged the member is expected to pay for their own foods, admission charges etc.
